The Baltics
Discover the Baltics by our direct coach services from Germany, Austria, Italy, Czech Republic
and Poland to Lithuania and Latvia
with further travel possibilities to Estonia and even Russia.
Vilnius, Riga or Tallinn
Any of the three capitals of the Baltic States offer you a great
deal of opportunities for tourism, shopping and entertainment.
Either the biggest baroque style old town in Vilnius, or gothic
style old towns in Tallinn or Riga will take you back centuries in
time.
Kaunas
Come to the "skansen-style" museum of Rumsiskes near Kaunas
during the Great Midsummer Eve and Shrove Tuesday celebrations and
you will see how the Baltic people celebrate! Each year the night
of June 23 is very special in the Baltics, because most people go
out into the countryside to drink locally brewed beer, build
campfires, make garlands from oak leaves and flowers, and sing and
dance from dusk till dawn. Or, put on your most horrifying mask,
enjoy a great variety of pancakes with hot drinks and see an evil
symbol of winter called More being burned in a big fire during the
Lithuanian "Mardi Gras" or Shrove Tuesday.
Nida
Visit Nida the Lithuanian seaside town with its great sand
dunes; or why not explore the densely forested Saaremaa Island in
Estonia where the waves of the Baltic Sea break against the rocky
scarps. Almost half of the Baltics is covered with lush forests,
and much of the sparsely populated shoreline is a glorious
unspoiled ribbon of white sand. Rarer elsewhere in Europe, many
animal species such as wild boar and White stork can still be seen
in the countryside.
Skiing
Although there are no large mountains in the Baltics, the people
are big downhill skiing fans. As proof, there are many outdoor
facilities open through the winter in all three countries; like
Sigulda in Latvia, or Otepaa in Estonia, as well as the Baltics'
biggest indoor snow arena near Druskininkai in Lithuania.
